Job Description

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead, manage and develop the public health and research-related dossiers to support MSF medico-operations in the South Asia region and/or across the movement, in line with the vision and aims of MSF South Asia and the Programmes Department.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Medical Research:
Lead the key research and evidence generation related activities that contribute to the goal of making MSF-South Asia a medico-research hub for the region and beyond, thereby improving healthcare outcomes in country programmes.

 

  • Guide the team in identifying key emerging public health priorities and challenges that are relevant for MSF medico-operations in the region and provide technical research and support to the country programmes as requested.
  • Lead the public health research agenda of MSF South Asia and coordinate publications or white papers that can be released by MSF South Asia based on the ongoing activities in line with MSF needs and positioning.
  • Coordinate the Asia Scientific Days and guide the team in thematic development, external stakeholder engagement, editorial coordination, findings, and dissemination.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Management:

 

  • Lead in developing sustainable partnerships with key public health policymakers, Governmental bodies, academic institutes, public health organizations among others in South Asia and beyond that support wider aspirations of MSF South Asia.
  • Build a stakeholder engagement strategy by acting as interface between key external and internal stakeholders operating in areas of public health relevance that are aligned with MSF activities (both South Asia and globally).
  • Increase opportunities for MSF Medico-Operations, and Access for Products of Healthcare initiatives and other partners to have conversations, make connections and use learnings to find efficiencies, improve outcomes, encourage change and create a culture of best practice.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Programmes Department on shared dossiers and activities.
  • Co-develop and work closely with the Communications team regarding medical dossiers and events.
  • Collaborate with MSF South Asia Advocacy Lead around medical dossiers related advocacy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Public Health Department of OCA on shared priorities in line with the overall Programmes Department strategy.
  • Support the Director of Programmes as delegated

 

 

 Medical Unit Vision and Strategy

 

  •  Develop the medical strategy based on clearly defined deliverables and timelines, in line with the overall Programmes.
  • Department strategic direction and the wider medico-operational needs of MSF medico-operations in the region and global.
  • Lead the implementation of the medical strategy.

 

Medical Dossiers Lead and Team management

 

  •  Focal point for managing all Medical Unit related activities from strategy, reporting, implementation of programmes, budget, timeline and team management perspective and any other activities as required.
  • ​Lead and manage a team of subject matter experts who are involved in coordinating Medical Unit dossiers and events.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications  & Functional / Technical Skills

  • Medical or para-medical diploma

Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)

  • Minimum 7-10 years working experience in coordination or leadership roles for humanitarian and/or  public health organizations 
  • MSF field experience is essential – minimum 4 years 
  • Good understanding and knowledge of medical issues and challenges in humanitarian settings, and MSF field settings in particular.

  • Contract duration is one year with a possibility of contract period extension.

  • Compensation gross per month range USD 2581 to USD 3679 (Final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria).
