Job Description

Overview of the role and responsibilities

1. Assist the Media and Communications Officer of IOM Republic of Korea in carrying out all activities related to public relations and communications. 
2. Assist in the development and maintenance of the IOM Republic of Korea website. 
3. Prepare information and outreach materials for external communications like the beneficiaries, the media and the general public, and for internal communications such as newsletters, etc. 
4. Support the distribution of organisational and project-related publications, reports, and materials to relevant stakeholders (other projects, donors, government agencies, etc.). 
5. Prepare media briefings and press releases. 
6. Support the Media and Communications Officer of IOM Republic of Korea in maintaining effective working relationships with media representatives and press departments of donors, counterparts and partners including public and private organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs); hereto assist in further developing the media contact list for IOM Republic of Korea. 
7. Perform general press monitoring regarding references to IOM, to be visualised and shared internally.
8. Assist in monitoring Korean media regarding relevant developments and trends in the field of migration and in preparing regular overviews to be visualised and shared internally. 
9. Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia, Business Administration, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience; or,
•    High School diploma with three years of relevant professional experience;

 

EXPERIENCE
•    Experience in managing social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and digital communications; 
•    Experience in marketing communications, corporate communications, public relations, and journalism;
•    Experience in media relations and media monitoring, including drafting press releases, media advisories, articles, and public information materials;
•    Experience in digital campaigns, influencer engagement, growth marketing, and performance marketing; and
•    Prior work experience in corporate or agency marketing/branding roles is an advantage.

 

SKILLS
•    Skills in multimedia production: graphic design, photography, video editing using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro);
•    Skills in media analysis tools (Meta Business Suite, Instagram Insights, Google Analytics, YouTube Analytics); 
•    Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); and
•    Knowledge of social media engagement, audience engagement, and content performance monitoring across digital platforms.

LANGUAGES
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

-REQUIRED
• For this position, fluency in Korean is required (oral and written).
-DESIRABLE
• Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish).
