Job Description:

Annual Digital Storytelling Strategy and Implementation: 

 

Leads the development and continuous evolution of World Vision Ethiopia’s digital strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, donor needs, and audience engagement goals.  

 

Defines and drives the Annual Digital Storytelling Plan as a core component of digital strategy, aligning content priorities with fundraising, advocacy, and positioning objectives.

 

Exercises independent judgement over story selection, sequencing, and channel strategy, balancing audience impact, platform performance, donor expectations, and reputational considerations.  

 

Establishes clear digital priorities across platforms, ensuring storytelling, campaigns, and engagement efforts are integrated and mutually reinforcing.  

 

Monitors performance and adapts both strategy and storytelling plans based on data, audience insights, and changing organizational needs.

 

Digital Marketing, Growth, and Conversion: 

 

Designs and builds end-to-end digital conversion ecosystems, including donation journeys, platform integrations, payment solutions, and campaign funnels, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Tests and iterates new digital fundraising models, piloting approaches suited to the local context and scaling those that demonstrate traction and sustainability.

 

Leads digital marketing strategy and campaign execution across platforms to drive audience growth, engagement, and conversion.

 

Ensures consistent delivery of high-quality digital content across web and social platforms, maintaining alignment with organizational priorities, audience needs, and brand standards.

 

Oversees content performance across platforms, refining approaches to improve organic reach, audience growth, and engagement.

 

Determines targeting, messaging, and channel strategies based on analytics, audience behavior, and organizational priorities.

 

Integrates digital marketing with Marketing campaigns, fundraising, sponsorship, and advocacy efforts.

 

Contributes to the planning and allocation of digital marketing budgets in collaboration with Marketing, Communications, and RAM teams.

 

Defines and tracks return on investment for digital campaigns in collaboration with Communications, RAM, and technical teams, ensuring alignment between content quality, audience targeting, and platform performance.

 

Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of digital marketing investments, adjusting approaches to maximize return on engagement, reach, and conversion.

 

Provides direction and quality assurance for digital campaign execution delivered by supporting staff or partners.

 

Leads the development and optimization of digital conversion pathways, including donation journeys, campaigns, and platform integrations, to enable and scale digital revenue generation over time

 

Leads the design and evolution of digital platforms and user journeys, including assessing, adapting, or building solutions based on organizational needs and infrastructure constraints.

 

Evaluates and establishes fit-for-purpose digital infrastructure, including identifying gaps in existing systems and leading the development or integration of new solutions where required.

 

Ensures web platforms reflect organizational priorities, donor expectations, and brand positioning, while remaining adaptable across changing digital environments.

 

Provides oversight and direction to any supporting staff or vendors involved in website and platform management.

 

Leadership Visibility and Thought Leadership: 

 

Leads the development of digital thought leadership across Extended Senior Leadership Team and technical leads.

 

Advises and coaches leaders on digital positioning, messaging, and audience engagement in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Director.

 

Shapes World Vision Ethiopia’s contribution to national and sector-level digital conversations.

 

Monitoring, Risk, and Digital Reputation: 

 

Monitors digital performance, audience sentiment, and emerging risks across platforms.

 

Determines appropriate responses to engagement, public feedback, and reputational challenges.

 

Identifies and addresses performance gaps in content and platform engagement, adjusting strategies to improve reach, relevance, and audience interaction.

 

Evaluates and adjusts digital approaches to maximize return on investment, balancing content quality, audience targeting, and platform performance.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

 

Leads strategic engagement with internal and external stakeholders to shape digital approaches in line with organizational priorities, donor expectations, and reputational considerations.

 

Advises senior leadership, technical teams, and partners on digital positioning, visibility opportunities, and risk management in online spaces.

 

Builds and maintains relationships to strengthen influence and collaboration.

 

Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote best practices and foster a culture of relevant culture, e.g., safeguarding, quality assurance.

 

Training and Capacity Building:

 

Leads digital capability-building initiatives across the organization, enabling teams and leaders to effectively engage on digital platforms.

 

Coaches Extended Senior Leadership Team and technical leads on digital presence, thought leadership, and engagement.

 

Provides guidance and mentoring to junior digital staff, including Digital Engagement Coordinator where applicable.

 

Develops frameworks and tools to standardize digital practices.

 

Design and facilitate training programs for staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill enhancement.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation:

 

Leads analysis of digital performance, audience engagement, and platform trends to inform strategic decision-making.

 

Develops and applies performance frameworks to assess digital effectiveness.

 

Provides actionable insights to improve engagement and reach.

 

Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure adherence to established standards and to facilitate continuous improvement

 

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field.

 

Relevant certifications in digital marketing, analytics, or platform management (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot, or equivalent) are highly desirable.

 

Additional training in digital strategy, analytics, UX, or content marketing is an asset. Required Professional Experience

 

Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in digital strategy, marketing, or communications across multi-platform environments.

 

Advanced technical expertise in digital platforms, web systems, analytics tools, and campaign management.

 

Demonstrated ability to design and guide digital systems, frameworks, and workflows across teams without direct authority.

 

Proven ability to advise and influence senior leadership on digital positioning and thought leadership.

 

Strong analytical capability to interpret data and inform strategic decisions.

 

Demonstrated ability to integrate digital engagement with fundraising, advocacy, and organizational positioning.

 

Strong influencing and advisory skills to guide and align cross-functional stakeholders in complex environments.
